A report, 'Increased insulin resistance and risk of incident cerebrovascular events in patients with pre-existing atherothrombotic disease,' is newly published data in European Journal of Neurology. "Diabetes and the metabolic syndrome are known risk factors for ischaemic stroke. Our aim was to examine whether amongst patients with pre-existing atherothrombotic disease, increased insulin resistance is associated with incident cerebrovascular events," scientists writing in the European Journal of Neurology report (see also Heart Disease).
