According to recent research from the United States, "Ensuring that RNs entering the profession possess the skills necessary to provide evidence-based tobacco cessation interventions to patients can substantially increase the number of smokers who are provided with such treatments. Quantitative descriptive survey data were collected in spring 2007 from two samples: 675 baccalaureate nursing students in their senior coursework and directors of 10 Minnesota baccalaureate nursing programs."
