Waste Management, Inc. (NYSE:WM) announced financial results for its third quarter ended September 30, 2009. Net income(a) for the quarter was $277 million, or $0.56 per diluted share, compared with $310 million, or $0.63 per diluted share, for the third quarter of 2008. Revenues for the third quarter of 2009 were $3.02 billion compared with $3.53 billion for the same 2008 period. Results in the 2009 third quarter included a net benefit of $0.02 per diluted share from the combined effects of certain favorable income tax adjustments and charges related to our restructuring announced in February 2009.
