The American Academy of Actuaries honored John Purple with the 2009 Robert J. Myers Award for Public Service earlier today during its luncheon and annual meeting in Boston. Purple was selected in recognition of his contributions to the public good through his years of service during his tenure as chief actuary with the Connecticut Insurance Department, a position he held from 1998 until his retirement earlier this year.
