A US ARMY psychiatrist slaughtered 12 of his comrades in a gun rampage at the world's biggest military base last night.

Major Malik Nadal Hasan, left, was shot dead after murdering the recruits at Ford Hood in Texas. Another 31 people were injured in the massacre.

One other soldier was being held as a suspect last night.

President Barack Obama described it as "a horrific outburst of violence".

Crazed Hasan opened fire inside a complex where soldiers were preparing for deployment in Afghanistan. Fort Hood ...
