Chennai-based Rs.40,000-crore Shriram Group said it plans to pump in around Rs.1,600 crore to set up India's first-ever coal gasification project in Haldia in West Bengal, using Lurgi technology. The investment comes at a time when a number of big projects were shelved due to the political uncertainty in that state, media reports said.
The group had already floated Haldia Chemicals Ltd. for its proposed venture in Bengal.
In case the the project materializes, it will be third project of the Shriram Group in Bengal. It is investing around Rs.2,000 crore for setting up an IT and auto component park in Uttarpara. It had already ...
