India's Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. is considering several acquisition opportunities globally and could possibly announce a deal within a year, its chairman said Tuesday.

"There are several opportunities we are pursuing. Across the globe, in the developing world, we feel there are good opportunities," Adi Godrej said during a conference call with analysts.

Mr. Godrej added that the company has the opportunity to buy Sara Lee Corp.'s stake in Godrej Sara Lee Ltd. if the U.S.-based company decides to exit the joint venture.
