ALTHOUGH the last of the year's Open matches on the Tyne, The Steve Roberts Memorial, was fished on Sunday in atrocious conditions, sport was still exceptional. No less than 18 of the 82 contestants returned double figures. The winner was Newcastle''s John Parkinson with 32lb 2oz from Riding Mill, while Ken Melton drove up from Doncaster to finish second with 27lb and John Messer was third with 26lb 4oz.
Quality dace featured throughout the match lengths whilst chub of over 4lb were caught ...
