A ban on factoring could significantly reduce both the availability of advice and the level of consumer engagement with advisers, Martin Davis, chief executive of Openwork has warned.
In his response to the FSA's consultation paper on the retail distribution review, which included Openwork's partner firms, Mr Davis said: "As long as the adviser charge is agreed, with no influence from providers, is disclosed to the client up front and the client is willing to pay the charge, we see no reason why providers should be prevented from making payments to advisers as they do currently.
