OYSTERS from a Scots estuary were once regarded as the best in Britain.
But following a sustained period of over-fishing, the Firth of Forth oyster had become extinct by the 1950s.
Now the celebrated aphrodisiac has made a surprise return to the waters where it once flourished.
Until the early 20th century, Scotland supported a prolific native oyster fishery, the most renowned of which was in the Firth of Forth.
Since its extinction in 1957, however, Scottish oyster production is now centred on the West Coast.
