Banner chairman plays down strike

CLARE chairman Michael O'Neill is adamant that his county is not heading for a Cork-style players' strike. The Banner chief has also publicly reaffirmed his support for embattled hurling manager Mike McNamara, but that show of confidence hasn't lessened the growing sense locally that the latter's reign is on borrowed time.
McNamara is due to address club delegates at next Tuesday night's county board meeting, providing a review of Clare's disastrous 2009 campaign and outlining plans for next season.
