The Arts & Crafts movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries emphasized straight lines, comfort, honesty, simplicity, and the dignity of work. The furniture was fumed oak, table lamps were copper, art pottery was matte green, and tableware was sterling silver. Sterling silver? Wasn't that a bit too high class for such humble surroundings?
