A threat that one million rural satellite TV viewers could lose their network signals has spurred industry officials to ask Congress to stay the July preliminary injunction from a federal judge in Miami and direct the FCC to decide who should be eligible to receive distant network signals.
With Congress scheduled to adjourn Oct.7, the odds of winning approval may be a bit long, said Charles Hewitt, president of the Alexandria, Va.-based Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association (SBCA).
