It was a normal day in the De Haan household in Holland when Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper, Hans Vonk made one of his courtesy phone calls to his 'trainer'.
Vonk, you see, chatted regularly with Foppe de Haan who was the technical director at SC Heerenveen, the club the he kept goals for last season. De Haan did not take particular note as the goalkeeper was chatting to Mrs De Haan.
But on that particular day Vonk's call, to the surprise of the 66-year-old De Haan who is now Ajax Cape Town coach, took longer than usual.
