This special section celebrates engineering excellence. But some product planners and engineers insist on installing obsolete technology or gimmicky gadgetry that only annoys vehicle occupants.
Here is my Hall of Shame of vehicle technology we can do without.
Cassette players. Everyone's mix tape from college has long since melted. Besides, the slots are way too inviting a target for a child's wayward piece of candy. These should have gone the way of the eight-track at least one product cycle ago.
