The Essen Motor Show, a showcase for car customizing companies, will have fewer exhibitors this year as companies hit by the economic crisis stay away to cut costs.
Frank Thorwirth, CEO of the show's organizers Messe Essen GmbH, is putting a brave face on the reduced numbers.
"We'll present a more compact show, but still a powerful one," he said.
The show has been given a new structure whose core feature is a reflection on the values of its founding year, 1968, when the motor sports and customization themes were the focal points.
