Rubber equipment designer and manufacturer Prosco Inc. has added a laser inspection system with accurate, non-contact measuring capability to its product line.
The machine was developed as a portable unit primarily for measuring different sizes and types of rollers up to an outer diameter of 40 inches, said Peter Kubala, Prosco project engineer and co-founder. It checks the roll's profile, roundness, taper and other characteristics.
The laser provides quality, accurate inspection in part because it doesn't make contact with the rubber on the roll, Kubala said. "It's the best way to measure soft materials like rubber because ...
