OTTAWA, ONTARIO, Nov 6, 2009 (Marketwire via COMTEX) -- Canada's Transport Minister John Baird and the Honourable Rob Merrifield, Minister of State (Transport), today announced the appointment of Mr. Thomas A. Bennett to the board of directors of VIA Rail Canada Inc.

"Mr. Bennett's extensive experience in finance, business, marketing and management will be a great asset to the board and its mission going forward," said Baird.
