TAJIKISTAN AMNESTIES ABOUT HALF OF ITS CONVICTS
DUSHANBE. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Tajik President Emomali Rahmon signed into law a bill on amnesty on Wednesday, and it will be published in official press the same day, which will mean its entry into force, the presidential press service reported.
The law will be applied to 10,000 convicts, which makes about 50% of their entire number in Tajikistan.
"The Tajik parliament passed the bill to mark the 15th anniversary of the Tajik Constitution and the Year of Memory of the Great Imam and also to follow principles of humanity," it said.
