Article: Two years away: Jackson construction has a long way to go.

Downtown Jackson has a significant amount of construction going on these days, and two large projects are state buildings.

The Mississippi Department of Education, housed in the Central High Education Building at 359 North West Street, is undergoing work that should be finished in Dec. 2011. The $4-million renovation began in July 2009. The current portion is being completed by Mayrant Construction Company for $2.2 million.
