8 (1859) Mrs. Adair Humphries Edwin, a botanist, painter, and teacher at Gulfport High School who founded the Gulfport Garden Club, was born near Hudsonville in Marshall County.
10 (1958) Old-time fiddler W.E Claunch of Guntown in Lee County, who recorded 26 tunes for a Smithsonian music team in 1939, including the ever favorite "Great Big Yam Potatoes," died.
