Oil and natural gas producer EOG Resources Inc. (EOG) has acquired more land in the Texas portion of the Haynesville Shale after drilling three prolific wells in that emerging natural gas field.
The Haynesville Shale - one of the hottest regions for natural gas drilling in the U.S. - is a dense rock formation underlying East Texas and Northern Louisiana. To date, producers have concentrated drilling in Louisiana, where well production results have been more consistent. But recent output from Haynesville wells in Texas indicate that may be changing.
