Spectra Energy Partners LP's (SEP) third-quarter earnings jumped 66% on a boost from its Noark Pipeline System acquisition and other expansion projects.
The natural-gas pipeline and storage operator was formed by Spectra Energy Corp. (SE) out of some of Duke Energy Corp.'s (DUK) former natural gas holdings. Spectra Energy Partners and other large, well-capitalized companies have been acquiring assets of smaller players getting squeezed by tumbling commodities prices and slumping natural gas demand.
