The US government continued to hand over money for renewable energy projects from its seemingly bottomless stimulus funds last week, this time announcing $338m ([pounds sterling]204m) for geothermal projects.

The funding will support 123 projects in 39 states, said the Department of Energy's (DoE) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy arm, and will be spread among private industry, academic institutions, tribal groups, local governments, and the Department's own national laboratories.
