Dear ANC provincial secretary Zikalala, thank you for treating Tribune readers to an open letter to the editor last week; I thought I'd return the favour.

I must say, I was shocked to discover that the boss is such a turncoat reactionary; he seemed awfully liberal when he interviewed me. I'd never have guessed he was a bad African; but now it seems he's going off having opinions of his own instead of parroting the party line - it's shameful. I mean, what sort of democracy are we going to have if newspaper editors are going to disagree with our democratic leaders whenever they feel like it?

Anyway, if it's any consolation, you'll be happy to know that ...
