SYDNEY, Nov 9 Asia Pulse - The Australian sharemarket opened mildly higher on Monday after gains on Wall Street and among the local financial sector.

At 1015 AEDT, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 30 points, or 0.65 per cent, at 4,624, while the broader All Ordinaries had gained 31.1 points, or 0.68 per cent, to 4,641.

On the Sydney Futures Exchange, the December share price index contract was 40 points higher at 4,641, on volume of 8,115 contracts.

The buoyant opening followed strong earnings results from chemicals maker Orica, and a trading update from Commonwealth Bank of Australia saying reporting cash earnings for the September quarter ...
