TOKYO, Nov 9 Asia Pulse - Japan firm Kirin Holdings Co.'s (TSE:2503) pretax profit soared in the nine months through September on a potent mix of strong sales of beer and pharmaceuticals, while rivals Asahi Breweries Ltd. (TSE:2502) and Sapporo Holdings Ltd. (TSE:2501) suffered profit declines.
Kirin reported a 27 per cent year-on-year increase in group pretax profit to 110 billion yen Friday. It also upgraded its forecast for the full year by seven billion yen (US$77.9 million) to 143 billion yen.
