A Saturday night carbon monoxide leak at a Glen Ellyn ice rink sent more than a dozen hockey players and fans to local hospitals.
Glen Ellyn Fire Department Public Information Officer Craig Eldridge said firefighters got a call at 5:33 p.m. of a possible gas leak.
Arriving at the Highland Avenue rink five minutes later, firefighters found a
high presence of carbon
monoxide and evacuated the rink.
The rink, which was hosting the Bauer International Invite hockey tournament at the time, "was packed with people," Eldridge said.
