The Buzz staff were willing to look the other way when Wegmans, the hugely popular grocery chain based in Rochester, bypassed the Capital Region in favor of big cities like Boston and Washington.
Having a presence in those towns, after all, makes good business sense, and most retail chains want to be in population centers.
But then came news that Wegmans plans to open stores in the Worcester area, as part of a broader expansion into New England.
Worcester?! That gray and grim city in central Massachusetts?
We're trying to not take this personally. But really, Wegmans ... what does Worcester have that the Capital Region doesn't?
