SUMMARY: Moves to preserve capital are taking their toll on sales
UK life assurers have put on a brave face in the wake of third-quarter earnings, but overall picture so far this year contains some worrying trends alongside a few bright spots.
On the plus side, the biggest boost has come from a rise in equity values resulting in significantly improved investment returns, and encouraging investors to give more money to the life assurers.
