Germs can make you sick! Bacteria and viruses are special types of germs. Viruses are extremely tiny. They are much smaller than bacteria. They can cause lots of different illnesses, from colds to polio to chicken pox.
Germs spread very quickly. They can be spread by being too close to someone who is sneezing. They can get into our bodies through open cuts. Germs can even be passed by sharing cups or just by shaking hands. Luckily, our bodies help protect us from germs. This protection is called our immune system.
