ALBANY -- An imprisoned labor leader from a Buffalo-area union said he was told 10 years ago his union could gain key political leverage by investing its multimillion-dollar pension fund with a Connecticut brokerage firm tied to then-Sen. Joseph L. Bruno.
Mark Congi, who is serving 15 years in an Ohio federal prison, testified Monday that the now-deceased business manager of Buffalo's Local 91, Michael "Butch" Quarcini, told him about Wright Investors' Service of Connecticut in the summer of 1999.
