William James Lyons Jr., 79, of Westvale, passed away Saturday at the VA Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Bill was prede-ceased by his parents, William and Laura Lyons of Syracuse, and a sister, Mary Annable of Fairmount. Born January 23, 1930, Bill attended Most Holy Rosary, graduating in 1947. A decorated U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he distinguished himself in combat, receiving two bronze service stars, a UN service medal and a combat infantry badge. After the war, Bill owned Lyons Insurance Agency and following retirement hosted a central New York radio broadcast titled, the "Bill Lyons ...
