Nearly a century after Dan Stetler opened his Dodge dealership in south central Pennsylvania, his third-generation descendants still cite his business philosophy: "Treat everyone as if they were a member of the family.
That might sound simple, bordering on trite. But it helped keep Stetler Dodge now Stetler Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep in business since it opened in 1914 as a charter dealership for the fledgling Dodge Bros. Motor Cars. So did Dan Stetler's early vision of selling cars in a milieu of opulence.
Stetler was a butcher who left school after fifth grade. He had to borrow money from his uncle to open the dealership.
