Marlene Herman needed to give her melancholy employees some gas to get through a tough time that has been fueled by the elimination of overtime pay, frozen wages and a sputtering economy.
So to compensate, the owner of two Aamco Transmission & Complete Car Care franchises began in spring issuing gas cards, gift cards or paid half-days off among the 10 employees who work in the Cleveland and Cleveland Heights locations.
She said the incentives were small ways in which she could give back.
