CEBU CITY, Sept. 29 (PNA) -- The Mines and Geo-Scieces Bureau (MGB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has reported that Carmen Copper Corp. in Toledo City spent around P11.233 billion or USD 237 million to rehabilitate the former Atlas mines and resume commercial mining operations.

Carmen Copper is the former Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corp., which started copper mining operations in 1953 in Barangay Don Andres Soriano, Toledo City in Cebu's western seaboard.

It used surface and underground mining methods to extract copper ore from four open pits and two underground mines.
