The new Indian River Inlet Bridge's progress is quite evident when driving over its predecessor to the east, and this week local residents can get a close look at just how far the project has come.
From 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, state officials are holding an open house and site tour to let the public get an up-close-and-personal look at the $150 million construction project.
The tour was originally scheduled to be held Oct. 17, but a nor'easter caused so much coastal flooding that officials feared Route 1 would be closed and the site would be inaccessible to the public.
