ELIN Jones took a swipe at Welsh farmers after revealing the Assembly Government wrote off pounds 2.13m worth of bluetongue vaccine this year.

The rural affairs minister said the poor take-up by the industry meant that next year farmers would be on their own when it came to protecting their livestock.

This summer Cardiff underwrote the country's vaccination programme but 4.6m doses out of the original 7.5m batch remained unsold.
