SCOUTING NEWS
Kathryn VanDeveer, daughter of Mark and Deborah VanDeveer of Virginia Beach, is a 2009 graduate of Cape Henry Collegiate School and student at William and Mary College.
VanDeveer recently earned the Gold Award, Girl Scouting's highest achievement.
For her project, "Be the Change: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle," she created and gave interactive presentations on preserving the environment for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
She gave each child a canvas bag, handmade magnet, and a copy of the Eco Ellie book about an environmentally friendly elephant.
