Article: Mining firm launches river cleanup drive in South Cotabato.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Oct. 2 (PNA) -- Mining firm Sagittarius Mines Inc. (SMI) has launched a cleanup drive for various rivers in Tampakan town in South Cotabato to help address problems on water pollution in the area.

Jose Sebua, SMI's social and environment superintendent, said the company's officials and employees launched the initiative recently by leading local residents in clearing litters and debris at a 1.5-kilometer portion of the Lambato River in Tampakan.

He said the initiative is in line with the environmental volunteerism campaign "Clean up the World" program, which mainly aims to promote environmental awareness and preservation.
