Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:SCMP) reported its consolidated financial results for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2009. Financial Highlights of the Quarter: Product royalty revenue from sales of Amitiza[R] (lubiprostone) in the U.S. for the third quarter of 2009 was $9.4 million compared to $7.7 million during the prior year period. Product royalty revenues had been negatively impacted in the third quarter of 2008, as $1.9 million of revenue was recognized in the second quarter of 2008 from the initial stocking of Amitiza (8 mcg) for irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) (see also Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc.).
