Dubai The foreign policy of India needs a rethink as it is increasingly becoming the handmaiden of economic policy, especially liberalisation, a former diplomat and union minister of the country said.
During a recent visit to Dubai, former Indian Cabinet Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar said: "Increas-ingly, our ties with the G8 countries are highlighted whereas our policy towards those who are similarly situated like us has become much weaker."
Referring to the Middle East crisis, he said: "Why are we silent on issues on which we wished to be at the forefront in the past?"
