Textile mills have been a little slow in fully responding to the changing demands of today's marketplace, John Boland 3d, former president and CEO, Dominion Textile Inc., recently told those attending Zellweger Uster Inc.'s 50th anniversary celebration in Charlotte. He urged his audience to be fresh and creative in addressing issues created by change.
Boland said textiles has been an "either/or industry" trying to serve a "both/and" retailer. "We said, `You've either got to have the benefit of Quick Response and superior quality, or low cost and flexibility.' And the retailer has been trying to tell us for so long, `We want both.
