SYDNEY, Nov 13 Asia Pulse - The Australian sharemarket opened lower on Friday with resources stocks weaker after falls in commodity prices.

At 1015 AEDT, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 40.6 points, or 0.86 per cent, at 4,707.3, while the broader All Ordinaries had lost 38.2 points, or 0.8 per cent, to 4,720.

On the Sydney Futures Exchange, the December share price index contract was 39 points lower at 4,723 on volume of 7,438 contracts.

Commodities prices were lower overnight.

BHP Billiton was down 63 cents, or 1.59 per cent, at $38.92, and Rio Tinto had lost 59 cents, or 0.84 per cent, to $69.25.
