NEW YORK -- Tommy knows a good thing when he sees it. With his pricy Blue Label $1,000 clothing, comparable sportswear and furnishings currently generating 40 percent of the business in his baronial Beverly Hills store on Rodeo Drive, the designer decided to go public with a wholesale line. The first collection under the Hilfiger Blue Label is being launched for fall '99 in better specialty stores across the country.
One look at Blue Label and it's obvious that this isn't just another designer collection. Hilfiger has a preppie '60s sensibility and it's written all over the clothes. According to Sid Mashburn, vice-president of design, collection and licensing, "This ...
