Major German newspapers once again publish poetry on a regular basis. Poetry slams in Berlin, Vienna, and Munich attract hundreds of young people; and poets rather than prose writers are receiving the most important German literary prizes. It seems that poetry in German-speaking countries has overcome its low point, that the boundaries between poetry and prose have once again been sharply drawn and the objects of poetry dipped in an unearthly and irresistible light.
