Head lice are very common and very contagious. You can get lice by coming in contact with someone who has them or by using any of his personal items (combs, brushes, hair ornaments, or headphones), hats, costumes, pillows, bedding, or furniture.
Before treating head lice it is very important to know that the problem is indeed head lice and not dandruff. Head lice can usually be treated with products that contain pyrethrins such as Nix and Rid. However, if you don't notice improvement, talk to your doctor. Reports suggest that head lice may be developing resistance to some of the treatment products.
