At its most recent convention the Manitoba NDP, led by activists, rejected a constitutional amendment that would effectively have stripped ordinary members of their power to make party policy and centralized all policy decisions within caucus. The amendment was moved in reaction to the vote of a previous convention, which overwhelmingly passed a resolution committing the party to reclaiming public ownership of a privatized Manitoba Telephone System - without compensation for privateering or excess profits.
