Lois Mailou Jones, a prominent painter whose career spanned more than seven decades and whose works range from impressionist to political, recently died in Washington, D.C. Jones was 92 years old.

Jones' art has spanned the globe from street scenes of Montmartre and the River Seine in Paris to portraits of society life in Haiti. Les Fetiches, a 1938 cubist depiction of African masks now in the National Museum of American Art, is considered one of her masterpieces.
