In the 69th annual baseball All-Star Game, the American League and National League teams combined to assault the record books with an offensive explosion, and by the time it was over, San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds walked away with a little piece of history.
The game at Coors Field in Denver started slowly but ended with a one-of-a-kind, run-scoring outburst that the American League won, beating the National League 13-8 for back-to-back victories in the midsummer classic. The 21 total runs were the most ever in an All-Star Game, eclipsing the old record set in 1954 when the teams combined for 20 runs in Cleveland.
